Resin-Ivory™ Top grade Imitation ivory for game call mouthpieces. Resin-Ivory™ is the highest quality imitation ivory we have seen, worked or handled - ever. This material glues well with industry standard glues. It turns and polishes just like real ivory. Resin Ivory a very high gloss finish with simple sanding to 400 grit followed by buffing with white jewelers rouge on cloth or felt wheels or by holding felt to a turning piece in the lathe.

This regular grade Resin-Ivory™ is for game call mouthpieces. The Resin-Ivory+S™ grade is available only in 1.5" and 2 " diameters for large call stock turnings. The +S grade has the Shreger lines in the end grain - hence the +S designation. The Shreger lines are those lines forming the herringbone pattern as seen in the end grain view of real ivory.

This regular grain Resin-Ivory™ has an attractive grain that looks like real ivory. As one turns a piece in one's hand this imitation ivory shows side grain, flat grain and then back to side grain again. This material flouresces under a black light so customs agents will be able to discern it from real ivory without a problem.

If you purchase multiple pieces we may send the order in 12 inch pieces if doing so does not drive the shipping charge. This will depend on total order size and destination.

RESIN IVORY™ cuts with standard wood and metal cutting band saw blades running at standard wood speed. This material machines well at high speeds with carbon steel tooling. Tools need to be sharp and if they are sharp you will have no chipping. If chipping occurs you need resharpened or new tooling. This is especially true of cue turning where lathes are fitted with high speed routers - if the router blades are sharp you will have no problem. Sanding is best done with wet/dry sandpaper with some artisans prefering wet while others prefer dry.

At high speeds when lathe sanding the Resin Ivory™ can burnish the materials' surface and load the sandpaper and micro-mesh.Sanding can be done at high speeds with care or the speed can be lowered for more carefree sanding. Polishing is done the same as ivory by buffing with white jewelers rouge on cloth or felt wheels. lathe buffing can be done by applying rouge to the material after sanding and then holding a felt pad to the material. The material takes a very high buffed finish resulting in a very high gloss that looks just like real ivory. Resin Ivory™ also accepts any clear coat finish with no resistance and no proclivity to peeling, etc.
