Real horn is an unstable material that can crack and warp. Imitation horn allows a craftsman to work in a stable material with all of the beauty of natural horn.

This is the most realistic faux tortoise material we have seen anywhere.

2 slabs at 5mm (.200" = 3/16"+) thickness by 1.5" X 4.75"

A high quality cellulose acetate that is not brittle and chippy like acrylic. Machined (milled) smooth on each surface. This material has the color and patterning throughout the material so as it is worked and polished it retains its beauty.

Works with conventional tools and takes a high polish by hand buffing with paste wax or with a 1725 RPM buffing wheel with jewelers rouge. Click on photo for important application information.
