Awabi and Paua abalone inlay "Feathers". These are slabs of thin inlay stock. These are natural solid shell plates - not laminated shell stock.
The Awabi feathers are .7mm+ thick (.028- .029") by 30mm wide (1.15"+) by a length of 100 to 130 mm (3.9" to 5"). These are slightly curved and do not lay flat.
The Paua abalone feathers are 1.6mm thick (.062" = 1/16") by 17 to 20mm wide (5/8" to 3/4"+) by a length of 85mm to 100 mm (3.3" to 3.9"). These lay flat.

A natural solid shell plate - not laminated shell stock. From this stock artisans can make fine inlays.
Awabi feathers are .7mm+ thick (.028- .029") by 30mm wide (1.15"+) by a length of 100 to 130 mm (3.9" to 5"). These slabs have a slight curve and do not lay flat. They can be cut for small inlay pieces. Note the thickness at .028" (.7+mm).

Paua Pearl Feather
Paua Abalone Pearl "Feather".
A natural solid shell plate - not laminated shell stock. From this stock artisans can create many fine inlays.
The Paua abalone feathers are 1.6mm thick (.062" = 1/16") by 17 to 20mm wide (5/8" to 3/4"+) by a length of 85mm to 100 mm (3.3" to 3.9").
Thick enough to make almost any type of inlay.
