Elforyn® Bow Tips

Violin, cello and bass bow tips in 90 degree and 83 degree head angles made of Elforyn®.

Elforyn® is a high grade mineral resin that was developed to replace ivory for artistic applications. This is an ivory colored resin with a high mineral content that works well with conventional tools. This unique material is made in Germany and the bow tips are made in our Ohio shop. Elforyn is very pliable and forms easily to the curve needed for bow tips. The tips glue well with any glue and they file and sand easily to shape.

Elforyn® is a much stronger material than plastic or casein but we recommend our Tip Shield™ bow tips over all others.

Elforyn® fluoresces under a black light with patterning that conveys to any customs or wildlife agent that it is a man made material and not real ivory.

Each bow tip material we carry has a following among bow makers and restoration artisans. Simply put, different folks have found one of these materials they like best for bow tips. Elforyn has a decided following, most especially in Europe.
