This is the most realistic imitation tortoise shell we have seen.
A high quality cellulose acetate that is not brittle and chippy like acrylic. As you work this material you find the tortoise pattern is throughout whereas with acrylic the pattern is on the surface and goes away when the piece is worked.
Photo shows large slab to convey the beauty of the material similar to as seen when in the round.
Works with conventional tools and takes a high polish by hand buffing with paste wax or with a 1725 RPM buffing wheel with jewelers rouge. This is the good stuff.
